For a few years now, I’ve been shooting regularly for the SPCA. Once or twice a month I photographed their adoptables and designed adoption ads for each dog and when I wasn’t busy with that, I was shooting the renovations of their buildings, township dog shows and their annual SPCA/Hills 1000 Paws Walk (three years running now).
It’s always been a rewarding way for me to give back to the community that supports me and I’ve had loads of fun doing it. On the flipside, though, I’ve always wanted to do more. And so I set myself a mission...
Photograph as many dogs in the studio as possible and get each of those dogs to donate a bag of food and/or blankets. By doing this, YOUR dog becomes a RESCUE dogs’ hero and every booking will provide a meal for a four-legged friend in need! How cool is that? At the end of the month, I will collect up all the donations from each and every Super Dog Session that I shoot and make sure it goes to a rescue dog shelter. To bgin with, I am collecting for the SPCA. Each month after that, collections will go to a different organisation. So, throughout the course of a year, with your help, we can donate food and warmth to twelve different shelters and feed a whole bunch of amazing dogs who need all the love they can get!
Now, in order to shoot as many dogs as possible, we had to make a few adjustments to the way a shoot would normally go.
This is how it works. Each Super Dog Session runs for 20 minutes max. On arrival, we collect your donation, then you’ll quickly fill out some details, so we know who’s dog is who’s when it comes to the end of the day, and then we’ll head into the studio and get cracking with the fun part.
We’ll only have about 10 - 15 minutes of shoot time, so our aim is, simply, to get one really great shot of your dog, which will then be processed, retouched and presented to you, a few short days later, as a 5x7inch print (and you get the digital file too of course!)
But what does it cost, you may ask. Well, that's pretty simple. Just look at the equation below.
And what do you bring with you?
If your dog has a favourite toy/s, bring that. If your dog has a specific treats that really gets him/her going, bring those. If they have a favourite blanket, bring that. Basically, anything that you think they would enjoy having with them and would help them relax and have fun, bring.
If you have multiple dogs we suggest bringing one at a time. Whether you bring one dog per day OR one dog per week OR one dog per month, is entirely up to you.
Please remember though, ALL DOGS MUST BE ON A LEASH AT ALL TIMES.
