"Joey, about 9 old months now"
This is Joey. At first glance you may not notice anything unusual about him. When you look closer though, you’ll see he only has three legs.

This is not a birth defect but instead is the result of serious physical abuse at a very young age. When he was rescued, his
front left leg had been almost entirely ripped off. That's where Joey's mom, Sarah, came into the picture (so to speak): )
"Joey is a very special boy. He had a very tough start to life and ended up at the SPCA at just 4 months old after his front left leg was ripped off during a horrific beating (by people). I met Joey at the clinic there, just a few days after this terrible event. He squeaked and squealed to get to me and immediately jumped into my arms and cuddled. He wouldn't let go when I needed to leave... so he came home with me! Despite his harsh start to life he has the most amazing character (sweetest, most gentle natured boy) and an incredible and admirable love for life. He has very quickly become my shadow and self-appointed best friend."
- says Sarah, of this awesome little guy!

  He's described as a...

"Joyful, Enthusiastic, Charming, Goofball"
Recently Joey and Sarah joined me in my studio at #PhotoGraft, in Merrivale for his #SuperDogSession (click here to see the cool little promo vide I put together recently and don't forget to share it while you're there). From the moment he arrived the fun began. He ran, jumped, sat, stayed, lay down and chased a tennis ball with all the enthusiasm you could imagine.
Inbetween shots he would come and lie on my lap (I’m on the floor during the shoots) and give me a cuddle. HIs sense of joy was amazing.

"I named him Joey because he looks and moves like a baby kangaroo! And indeed, he bounces everywhere with such enthusiasm. He has powered through puppy and intermediate training and now joins the senior obedience classes on Saturdays. We are still very much in the learning stage (he is still a baby!) but he can pretty much do anything that his 4-legged friends can and is so attentive and eager to learn. He is currently learning to pack his toys back in his box when he finished playing with them. He is also an incredible swimmer. It took a few tries to get his balance, but he can now out-swim most dogs and is like a little otter in the water. He swims daily (at least 30mins) in the swimming pool and local dams, launching himself from the side, diving under the water and swimming huge lengths to retrieve his ball. His incredible love for life shines through in everything he does and is very humbling."

-Sarah and Joey have been doing training with Adi from Adrienne's Dog Training School and Funda Nenja.

His strong will and determination to overcome the odds and his injuries were truly inspirational. This is a youngster I will not
soon forget.
